Thank you for joining us for this session – it’s going to be so much fun!

Here are a few things for you to get ready for the show. We promise, it won’t be difficult.

1. Students will need a mobile device to collect science data during the show

It can be an Android or iOS mobile phone or a tablet. The device will need to be able to send data (it’s only a few kilobytes) so it will either need to have mobile data on, or be connected to the internet.

It’s great if each student has a device, but that’s not necessary. Students can share a device, between 1-3 students per device will work fine.

2. Download the app that you’ll be using for the show on your device

All our apps are available for free and can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store. We will provide you with more details when you purchase the excursion.

This is what the apps look like on each store:

If you have an iPhone or iPad go to the App Store. The app looks like it does on the left

If you have an Android device go to the Google Play Store. The app looks like it does on the right.

We ask that you prep the devices with the apps to make sure everything runs smoothly. If you have NSW DET devices, the apps will be installed for you.

We have also placed the details of downloading the app in the worksheet for students that are BYOD. But again, we ask that the apps are downloaded beforehand so that everyone can participate.

3. Students will interact with us using an Arludo Worksheet

The link to the worksheet will be provided once you purchase the excursion. You will be able to send all your students the link through an email or Google Classroom.

Students can use a computer or mobile device phone or tablet) to enter the worksheet.

All you need to do is provide the link to your students – every student will use the same link. Once they open the page, they will see this:

When asked to enter their ‘Arludo ID’ ask students to enter an Alias – not their real name. Arludo has created a system where no students are tracked, even in the apps. To facilitate this, we ask that all students create an alias.

Let them know that they will be using their Alias when playing the game as well. This way, they can compete for the top 10.

4. Join with this link to view the show on your scheduled time

The link and passcode for the event has been sent in the body of the email from the Powerhouse Museum.

We suggest that you have the video playing at the front of the class as students are using the worksheet and the app.

That’s it!
