Michael is an Associate Professor at UNSW, the Founder of Arludo, and winner of multiple education awards, including a recent Australian Award for University Teaching Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning for his digital approach to teaching. Find out more here.
Module 1: We’ll explore the how to teach science from an experiential perspective and how to encourage critical and analytical thinking.
Module 2: We’ll explore how students interact with technology to better understand their perspectives. We will then examine various digital tools to see how these tools align with student goals and engagement preferences.
Module 3: We’ll explore new technologies in teaching and learning science and see how they can be used in the classroom to complete experiments in less than 10 minutes. We will then discuss how we can engage students to become familiar with data analytics and making conclusions from data.

Great discussion and ideas re student engagement and motivation which have given me lots of ideas about taking ICT beyond gamification towards game based learning activities with intrinsic appeal to students. Provided immediate actions I can take back to the classroom to try in addition to provoking thoughts about long term teaching strategies I may start exploring.
The presenter went above and beyond to teach us about science and digital learning. It was a wonderful professional learning course.
I have added much of the Arludo apps to my classroom Ipads, and have already started writing their lessons into my classes for next term.
I am very against gamification in education, so was happy to look at game based learning/the differences. I have started to include more simulations in my Physics course work for students to start emulating these practices.
We’re coming to NSW, VIC and SA in Term 3!
